If you’re looking for instant ways to clean an Instant Pot, you’re in the right place! Instant Pots have pretty much revolutionized millions of kitchens–including mine. Talk about a fantastic way to cook a multitude of foods, in less time, with more flavor. Instant Pots are bomb! Now we need to know some great ways to clean an Instant Pot. Most importantly, is there a way to get the smell of your Sunday roast out of the sealing ring? There is! Stick around for that and more.
The inner pot of an Instant Pot is probably the easiest to clean. It is stainless, which usually cleans right up with some hot water, dish washing soap, and a sponge. A scrubbing sponge or stainless scrubber works wonders if you have a stubborn mess on your hands. I swear by these 3M Scotch-Brite stainless steel scouring pads available at Amazon. They never rust!
Your Instant Pot itself provides an instant way to clean a burned-on mess. Just add water to the inner pot, put it in the Instant Pot base, and turn on the Saute function to heat the water to a simmer. Use a rubber spatula to scrape and loosen the burned-on food as the water simmers. Once that is done, just cool the pot and then hand wash as usual.
For ways to clean an Instant Pot sealing ring, you need the Instant Pot itself once again. {See a pattern here?} Your Instant Pot will steam clean the ring and get the leftover cooking smells out of it in practically an instant. Here is what you should do:
- Make sure you have some plain white vinegar on hand.
- Grab a lemon too!
- Pour two cups of white vinegar into the Instant Pot, cut the lemon in half, and add both halves to the pot.
- Close the lid with sealing ring intact, and make sure the valve is set to seal.
- Run the Instant Pot using the “Steam” button, and set the timer for 3 minutes.
- Once the cycle is complete and the sealing valve has dropped, open the lid and remove the sealing ring from the pot.
- Allow the sealing ring to air dry thoroughly.
The sealing ring should now smell one hundred percent better! Note that your Instant Pot lid can be hand washed in hot, soapy water. I like to use Clorox wipes to wipe down the outside of my Instant Pot, including the display and control buttons.
