How To Get The Pee Smell Out Of Your Bathroom

Remove pee smell in the bathroom

Here’s how to have a fresh-smelling bathroom all the time.

Steps

To start cleaning, make sure you flush your toilet. It’s best to start with clean water. Even though there may appear to be nothing in your toilet, it’s good to flush it to be sure. Over time small amounts of residue sit at the surface, so it’s best not to clean with water that has been sitting at the surface for a long time.

Once you flush it, pour one cup of bleach inside the toilet bowl. Wear a glove and use a sponge to clean the toilet inside and out, scrubbing as well as you can.

Next, lift the tank lid off the back of your toilet. Does it also have a pee smell? If it does, use white vinegar to get rid of it. All you need to do is pour about 1 cup into the tank.  Again, make sure you are wearing rubber gloves. Use a coarse scrub brush to scrub clean the walls of the inside of the tank. When you finish, flush the toilet.

Flush the Toilet

Take ample time to clean around the base of the toilet. Pee easily builds up around the bottom {especially if you have little boys!}. Any residue there holds onto the smell for a long time, even if the rest of your toilet is clean. So cleaning this area is a great way to remove pee smell in the bathroom!

Other Ways to Remove Pee Smell in the Bathroom

Regularly wash the walls in your bathroom and all of the molding–particularly those behind and around the toilet area. You may be surprised at where you find old pee smells!

If you have a rug that sits at the foot of your toilet, or close by, it’s time to clean it! That’s easily a reason your bathroom is retaining a pee smell. Regular washing of the bathroom rug is an important step to remove pee smell from the bathroom.

The Secret Hack for Pee Smell in the Bathroom

Do you want to be sure you got all of the all pee out of your bathroom? Use a black light! A black light reveals any pee that is still there. You can also use it before you clean so you can see what areas you need to really focus on.
