Cleaning your jewelry doesn’t have to mean a trip to the jeweler. Would you like to know how to clean jewelry with everyday household items? The best thing about cleaning your jewelry yourself is that it costs nothing to do. It’s also really easy, and it works. You may want to take your jewelry for a professional cleaning and inspection every year, but there’s no reason to head to the jeweler every time you need a cleaning. How To Clean Jewelry At Home

So what everyday household items do you need to clean your jewelry at home? Only a soft-bristle toothbrush that you can easily pick up from Dollar Tree. {Or just save an old toothbrush and use that!}. You’ll also need a small glass cup or bowl, some boiling water, and regular window cleaner.

  1. Heat some water just until it begins to boil.
  2. Drop the jewelry you wish to clean into the bottom of a clean glass cup or bowl.
  3. Pour the hot water directly over your jewelry in the glass. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. The water should be cool enough to touch before proceeding.

  5. Pick up the jewelry one piece at a time. Use the toothbrush to lightly brush each piece and remove dirt and debris. Pay attention to the little nooks and crannies where dirt collects. Lay the pieces on a soft towel.
  6. Once each piece has been brushed, pour the water out of the glass.
  7. Pour your favorite glass cleaner liquid into the glass, enough to cover your jewelry. Let it soak for another 5 minutes.
  8. Repeat the process by brushing each piece with the toothbrush. Lay them on a towel.
  9. Carefully and thoroughly rinse each piece of jewelry with fresh water.
  10. Dry your jewelry with a soft, clean cloth.
