Are you ready to learn to clean your grill easily? It’s about that time again — barbecue time! Maybe you can’t wait to whip out your grill and cook up something amazing. So what a bummer it is to get everything ready, only to find that your grill REALLY needs a good cleaning. The bad news is that gourmet meal will have to wait (unless you’re otherwise prepared to cook something awesome). The good news is that it won’t have to wait very long. Here’s how to clean your grill in just a few steps. You can’t miss these grill cleaning tips!

1. Soak the Grates

After disconnecting your propane tank and making sure everything is turned off, remove the grates and metal plates underneath. If you want to heat them up a a bit first, that can actually facilitate the cleaning process — just wear gloves when taking them out. Take the grates and plates and soak them in a bucket of hot water and plain old dish soap. A grease-cutting formula is probably best.

2. Go Down Under

Next, grab your heavy duty grill brush. Cover your heating elements with foil to protect them and catch falling debris, then scrub like crazy on the underside of your grill’s hood and interior walls. With those tough wire bristles, it should come clean easier than you might expect. If you need to, spray a little vinegar on the area first.

3. Scrub the Grates

Take the grates and plates out of your bucket, then scrub them with your grill brush. Since they’ve been soaking for a little bit at this point, the grime should be a lot easier to remove. Scrubbing is easier if you lean them up against an outside wall or stair. Rinse them well.

4. Wipe & Replace

Now that your grill is clean, give everything a final wipe down with a damp rag or paper towel, and replace your plates and grates. If your under cabinet needs cleaning, you can do this by sweeping it out and wiping down the inside. Give the outside of your grill the same kind of wipe down with a good de-greasing cleaner. Now reconnect your propane and you’re good to “grill!”
