If you’ve ever celebrated a Christmas, you know that with all the joy and excitement comes a lot of clutter. So the last thing you and your home need around the holidays is to deal with more clutter already in your home. If you want to be clutter-free for Christmas, you really can make it happen! Here are some helpful tips.
1. Start NOW
If you want to be clutter free when the holidays roll around, you need to start right now. Go ahead — tackle the big stuff. Because you know what? As long as you maintain it for the holidays, you’re golden.
2. Keep Less Stuff
As you’re decluttering, ask yourself if you really need all that stuff. Will you be getting more for Christmas? Have you used it all year? Are really going to wear it again? If you’re anything like me, ridding yourself of extra stuff before the holidays is just like therapy — almost. It feels sooo good! If you don’t have time to sort through everything and decide what you might really need to keep, box things up and store them in the attic for now. If they’re still up there in a year, you can probably unload everything!
3. Donate More Stuff
Nothing makes you feel better than giving. Box up your unneeded items and donate them to a local charity or sub-for-Santa program. You’ll be doing yourself and someone else a favor. It’s a win-win.
4. Sell What You Can
If you have things of value you no longer need, why not sell them for extra holiday cash? Take the things you think someone else would buy from you, and place an ad on your local classifieds or sell them on eBay.
