- The first thing anyone will see when they come to your home is the outside. So, if you have your cement foundation exposed, apply a veneer to cover it up and make it look beautiful!
- If you’re like me, then you probably like to hang things up on the walls. I am always redecorating! This can cause tons of little holes to be all over your walls, which can be ugly. A super easy fix (instead of spackling) is to apply a dab of white toothpaste on the holes!
- If your home has shutters, it might be a good idea to paint them! You’d be surprised at how just a new paint job on the shutters can make your whole house look amazing and brand new!
- I also think it’s a really good idea to install window boxes on your home. It just makes it seem so cozy and cute; plus, the flowers are always a great addition!
- I hate when weeds and other plants pop up in the cracks of my driveway and walkways. A fast, easy, and natural way to kill them is with vinegar and hot water. Just pour this into the cracks until the weeds have died and gone away.
- A super easy and pretty cheap way to make your house look new is by updating the hardware. You’d be surprised at how much old knobs and handles can date your house.
- Another thing that really dates your house is the light fixtures. Repaint them or just completely replace them for an easy upgrade.
- If you have chrome faucets or sink knobs, then they probably have water stains on them. You can get rid of these by using a half a lemon! Just rub it on the chrome, rinse, and repeat until the stains are gone.
- We’ve kind of talked about this already, but repaint things in your house (or repaint your whole house) to make it look good. A fresh layer of paint can take something old and ugly and make it look new and cute!
- You should also make sure that your front yard looks good. It’s the first thing people will see when they pull up. Fix the bushes, the flower planters, and trim any trees.
- Speaking of the front yard, if you have the space and time, then plant a tree! Trees are known to add value to your home without you having to do much!
- Redo your house numbers for a quick and easy way to update your home. You can add a new color, new style, or just touch up the old ones. Whatever you think is best!
- Along with your house numbers, you could also redo your mailbox. Paint the old one or get a brand new one that looks great and is super functional!
- One aspect of a home that really dates it is popcorn ceilings! (I’m still not sure why that was a thing.) The good news is that it’s a pretty cheap fix (although it will take time).
- Consider replacing your window frames or maybe just painting them (depending on how old they are). New windows can bring in more light and make your whole house look newer!
- Along with your windows, you should also repair or replace the blinds. Choose a color and style that matches your home (while remaining neutral) and pulls everything together.
- If you have a deck, then pressure wash it to make it clean and look new. While you’re at it, you can also pressure wash the front of your house (if it’s not stucco) for a clean feel!
- Make these fantastic faux garage doors that look absolutely amazing! I love how they look real, but it’s all just a really nice paint job!
- Replace the baseboards in your home (or again, maybe just repaint them). You don’t notice how much of a difference your baseboards make until you’ve got them looking great again!
- One of my pet peeves with a lot of closets is that they’re too dark to really see anything in them. So, a nice repair you could do is add some lights to the inside of your closet!
- If you haven’t updated your bathroom in a while, then I would suggest getting a new toilet seat, or even a whole new toilet.
- I think it’s always a great idea to repaint the front door every few years. It’s an easy enough task, and can really make your house pop!
