We’ve all heard about vegetable oil, coconut oil, and essential oils, but have you heard about castor oil? I know I haven’t heard much about it, at least, but it has some great uses. Whether it’s for your body, your home, or your yard, castor oil is a multipurpose agent! However, before you use it on your body, check with a doctor to make sure it’s okay for you. Usually it doesn’t cause problems, but it’s always good to check first!
Make hair grow faster
Increase the growth of your hair with castor oil. All you need to do is massage a little bit into the roots of your hair and it will stimulate hair growth.
Treat dandruff and other scalp problems
If growing hair isn’t the only thing you’re concerned with, castor oil can still help. For those with dandruff or other scalp problems, you can apply castor oil and it should clear up your skin.
Boost immunity
By applying a few drops of castor oil to the outside of your body every now and then, it can help improve and boost your immune system. You don’t want to ingest it, but just putting a few drops around your eyes or joints can help.
Lubricate scissors
Keep your scissors smooth and clean by using castor oil on them. Just rub a few drops of the oil into the blade, let it sit for a bit, and then wipe off any excess.
Improve digestion
The only time you really want to ingest castor oil is when you’re having digestive problems. Castor oil is a natural laxative, but it’s POWERFUL, so be careful when taking it. A few drops mixed into yogurt or juice can make your bowels healthier.
Treat brittle nails
If you have weak and brittle nails, then treating them with castor oil every day can make them stronger in as quickly as one week. Just massage the oil into your nails at night and watch the magic happen.
Skin moisturizer
You can make homemade skin moisturizer with castor oil and a few other oils. For example, for dry skin, you can mix ¼ castor oil and ¾ sesame seed oil. For other skin types, find a recipe online and make it!
Calluses and corns
For sore and achy feet, turn to castor oil! This is especially helpful when dealing with calluses and corns. Massage the oil into your feet to relieve pain and also help make corns disappear.
Refresh eyes
Make your eyes looker fresher and younger by using castor oil. You need to be careful, though, so that the oil doesn’t get into your eyes. Rub it around your eyes at night and just wash your face in the morning.
Help ferns
You can perk up your ferns and make them healthier with a castor oil mixture. Combine 1 tablespoon of castor oil, 4 cups of warm water, and a tablespoon of baby shampoo. Once mixed, pour 3 tablespoons of the mixture in the soil and water as normal.
Soften cracked heels
Deal with your cracked heels by apply castor oil at night. The oil will soften the skin and make the cracks go away. It’s suggested to wear socks, though, so the oil doesn’t get all over your bed sheets. Wash the excess oil off in the morning.
Treat acne
For subtle or mild acne, you can use castor oil as a cleanser. Simply splash your face with warm water to open pores, apply a light layer of castor oil, let it sit overnight, and then wash in the morning. After a few days, you should see your skin improve.
Soothe achy joints
For painful and achy joints, use castor oil to soothe them. Rub the castor oil into your knee, elbow, or other joint and gently massage the skin. The oil will seep into your joints and hopefully provide some relief soon.
Repel moles
Did you know castor oil can be used to repel moles? They apparently don’t like the smell and presence of it, so it’s a natural solution! Mix ½ cup of castor oil into 2 gallons of water and then pour the mixture down the hole.
Reduce scars
If you want to reduce the appearance of your scars, then try using castor oil. If you apply it frequently, the fatty acids should help build healthy skin tissue, therefore making the scar tissue fade.
Alleviate colic in babies
For your baby that is fussing because of colic, apply some castor oil. Just warm it up by rubbing the oil between your fingers and then apply to the outside of your baby’s tummy. They should NOT ingest the oil; it should only be applied topically.
