Bet you never thought of cleaning your house (or yourself) with mouthwash! Well, if you really think about it, why shouldn’t you? It smells good and kills germs, doesn’t it? The next time you’re low on your favorite antiseptic or disinfectant, or want to use something “outside the box,” consider these 12 things you can clean with mouthwash.

1. Body Piercings

Well, ear piercings, too. Just dab some germ-killing mouthwash onto the area like you would any other antiseptic.

2. Cuts and Scrapes

An antiseptic mouthwash makes a great alternative disinfectant for scrapes and cuts.

3. Garbage Disposal

If your garbage disposal has seen cleaner, nicer smelling days, try cleaning it with antiseptic mouthwash. Just pour about 2 tablespoons down the drain, let it work for about an hour, then run the disposal with hot water for 1 minute.

4. Laundry

Adding a cup of mouthwash to a load of laundry (with your detergent) will help eliminate germs, plus it’ll keep your machine cleaner.

5. Plant Fungus

Have your houseplants been suffering from fungus? Ewww. No matter! Just mix 3 parts water and 1 part antiseptic mouthwash in a spray bottle, then spray it on the affected plant twice weekly until the fungus is gone.

6. Electronics Screens

From your TV, to your phone or tablet, mouthwash makes a great streak-free screen cleaner.

7. The Toilet

Heck, why not? For a quick scrub, just pour some mouthwash into the bowl and use your toilet brush to clean away the yuck. It’ll look and smell fresher in no time. Now get back to planning your busy life!

8. Your Toothbrush

Has someone in the family been sick? Drop your toothbrush on the floor? Just want to keep it sanitary? Stick the head of that toothbrush in a cup os antiseptic mouthwash. It’ll stay fresh and you’ll keep germs at bay.

9. Pets

Did you know antiseptic mouthwash can fight fleas? After bathing your pet, fill a spray bottle about half way with mouthwash. Then, fill the rest of the bottle with water. Spray it all over your their fur evenly, but avoid getting it in their eyes. After spraying, wait about 5 minutes, then rinse and comb.

10. Humidifiers

It’s important to keep your humidifier germ-free, or you’ll end up spreading disease and even mold spores. Did you know you can clean yours with antiseptic mouthwash to keep germs, mold, and mildew from invading? Just mix 1 tablespoon per gallon of water when you fill it up. Easy!

11. Tile

Fill a spray bottle with straight mouthwash to clean your tile and grout in the shower or on the floor. Just spray and scrub.

12. Your Head

Been exposed to head lice? It’s a nightmare! Wet your hair with antiseptic mouthwash and cover with a shower cap. Wait about 2 hours before washing your hair. It’s the thyme oil that kills and prevents lice.
