How To Make Cleaning Slime With Borax
There are two ways to make DIY cleaning slime. Here’s what you need for the Borax recipe:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water, divided
- 1/4 cup Borax laundry booster
- One 4 ounce bottle white school glue
- food coloring if desired
In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of the warm water with the Borax. Stir until the Borax dissolves. Set this mixture aside. In a larger mixing bowl, combine the other 1/2 cup warm water, the entire bottle of glue, and 2-3 drops of food coloring {if desired}. Stir until combined. Add the Borax water to the glue mixture and stir. Keep stirring until the mixture changes from a gooey, sticky liquid to a firmer consistency that you can knead with your hands. Now use your hands to knead it until it becomes a dry ball. This takes about 5 minutes.
To use this cleaning slime, roll it into a ball first. Use the ball of slime to dab at areas that need to be cleaned. Don’t let it sit, as it may begin to melt into the crevices as it warms.
How To Make No-Borax Cleaning Slime
Not everyone has access to Borax and some people don’t like it. Here’s a recipe for cleaning slime that works as well without it. You need:
- 1/2 cup Amazon Basics Slime Activator or any liquid starch
- One 5-ounce bottle of clear school glue
- 1/4 cup warm water
- food coloring, optional
Begin by stirring the slime activator or liquid starch into the entire bottle of clear glue in a mixing bowl. Keep stirring until combined. Now add the warm water, and stir again to combine. Pick up the slime and knead it with your hands until it no longer sticks to your fingers. It’s ready to use!
Store both types of cleaning slime in an airtight container between uses.
