If you hate clutter as much as I do, you’re probably dying for a clutter free home. If you don’t have time to spend an hour every day just decluttering your living space, you need quick and easy ways to achieve a clutter free home. Clutter doesn’t have to get in the way of your life when you use these 10 must-have clutter-busters.
1. Fast Track for Your Garage
I don’t know about you, but our garage is kind of in the disaster stage right now (doesn’t help that we are trying to get ready to move). That’s why Rubbermaid’s Fast Track System is on my to-get list. It installs easily and you can customize it for your needs. It holds pretty much ANYTHING you need to get out of the way.
2. The Spicy Shelf
Is your space cabinet a mess? Can’t seem to find anything? Meet the Spicy Shelf Deluxe.
3. Labels
For storage bins. For drawers. For shelves in your storage room. Label everything and see how much easier it is to find your stuff.
4. Non-Slip Hangers
Got a problem with clothes falling off your hangers? Get the non-slip kind and you’ll be done picking up your favorite blouse off the floor.
5. Baskets
And baskets, and more baskets! You can pick up big baskets for cheap at thrift stores and garage sales. Keep one by the front door for the kids’ “drop zone.” Keep another at the top or bottom of the stairs for things that need to be transported. Use one every day as you move about the house picking up stuff that needs to be put away in other rooms. When it comes to tackling clutter, baskets are king.
6. Trash Bags
No, you don’t want to store your clutter in trash bags, but keeping clutter to a minimum will be much easier if you get rid of some stuff! Trash, outgrown clothes, old blankets, knick-knacks that are out of style, etc. Donate it, sell it for cash…just unload it!
7. Storage Ottoman
Got company coming on unreasonably short notice? There’s no shame in picking up the clutter and throwing it into a storage ottoman. That’s what they’re really for, after all.
8. Hooks
In the garage. In the mud room. Next to the front door. Inside a closet. There aren’t many organizational challenges that can’t be helped with some simple hooks.
9. Zipper Pouches for Your Purse
Have trouble finding stuff in your purse or handbag? Pick up some cute little zippered pouches and categorize them by color. Maybe you put lipsticks the red one, change in the green one, and bobby pins in the yellow one. No more digging for all your stuff.
10. Decorative Boxes
In the bathroom, in the office, or on a living room bookshelf, decorative bins and boxes can keep makeup, pens and pencils, and devices from looking cluttered and messy.
