You’ve probably heard a lot about tea tree oil. It has a unique, medicinal, yet pleasant scent and is good for all kinds of health-related things. You may have used it in several different ways, but here are some handy ways to use it around your home.
1. Clean the Air
A lot of people love the fresh smell of tea tree oil. To diffuse it throughout your home, put a few drops in an oil infuser to naturally neutralize odors and even germs from the air. This is especially useful if someone in your household has been sick. It’s even great for anxiety and insomnia!
2. Disinfect
If you use an exercise mat, you can use tea tree oil to make a DIY disinfecting spray (along with eucalyptus and witch hazel).
3. Make Household Cleaner
All you need to make a general purpose household cleaner is vinegar, water, and tea tree oil. No nasty chemicals for you!
4. Get Rid of a Tick
Nobody wants these things crawling around on them, much less embedding their little faces into their skin. *shudder* If you find yourself in this predicament (or your kid, or your dog even), hopefully you have some tea tree oil on hand. A lot of people swear a few drops of this will cause that tick to back itself right out.
5. Banish Toenail Fungus
You know those prescriptions for toenail fungus? Have you heard as they rattle off all the side effects during the commercials? NO THANKS! Apply some pure tea tree oil to the infected area twice daily for about 6 months (even the prescriptions take a while!), and you’ll likely see that toenail fungus greatly diminish or disappear.
6. Prevent Head Lice
Every year, I worry about head lice when my kids go back to school. But did you know that the smell of tea tree oil can repel lice? Mix up your own solution with this recipe.
