Toilet Bowl Fizzy Bombs are wonderful and arguably the best homemade toilet bowl cleaner!
Whether you just really don’t want to or you don’t have time, cleaning the toilet is often a hassle and a chore that no one wants to do. However, here is an AWESOME recipe that not only quickly deodorizes and cleans your toilet but it requires almost NO work on your part!
Homemade Toilet Bowl Cleaner
DIY
Baking Soda
Add about 1 1/3 cup of baking soda to an empty bowl. The baking soda is essential because it acts as an abrasive substance that scrubs and cleans the toilet. It also is used to neutralize any acids that may be clinging to the toilet bowl, which helps deodorize your whole bathroom.
Citric Acid and Water
Next, add ½ cup of citric acid and 1 tablespoon of water to the mixture. The citric acid is what makes the bombs fizzy and really get deep into the pores of the toilet bowl. You may want to add the water via spray bottle so that it doesn’t all fizz up and react at once.
Lavender, Peppermint, and Lemon Essential Oils
Now you add the essential oils. You want about 30 drops of each one, which means these bombs pack a punch! Each oil helps eliminate germs and bacteria while also making the toilet smell clean and fresh!
Put in Mold
Finally, take the mixture and put it into a mold of your choice. Small squares are great because you can store them in your bathroom as a decoration! Let the mixture sit and dry for a few hours then carefully remove them and store them away!
How To Make With 3 Ingredients
Last but not least is a combination of vinegar ( this replaces the citric acid and water, baking soda, and essential oils. Simply mix 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup baking soda, and 1 tablespoon of essential oils in the bowl. This makes a fizzy reaction, but there is nothing to worry about. It works to clean the bowl and leave a fresh scent. See why I say this is the best homemade toilet bowl cleaner?

Amber Webster says
Do you just drop these into the toilet and leave?
Cathy Cowles says
Do you just drop in toilet and scrub or just leave it and let it clean the toilet.
Russ9292 says
OK, now what do u do with the bombs? Throw in toilet and then what? Scrub or do they do the cleaning without scrubbing?
Traci says
Same questions as above…. do you throw in toilet and let it dissolve or do we need to scrub?
Wrapped in Rust says
Traci,
Honestly, it depends on how dirty your bathroom is! I’ve found that I really have to scrub if I’ve neglected my bathroom for some time. If I’ve kept up with it, I just let it dissolve!
Donna says
When I put my mixture in the molds it puffed up. Is that normal?
Laurie says
Yes, mine puff up to. When it dried, it kinda had a lacy look to it, which I was ok with. I am just dropping them in a toilet. They still worked like a charm 🙂
Cindy says

Citric acid aka citrus acid anything like lemons, oranges and grapefruit or lemon extract, orange extract, etc. Vinegar combined with baking soda makes a good fizz to just drop the soda in your bowl add some vinegar and voila!!?

These are great, I love it when you can make cleaning fun!
Traci says
I put the mixture in a silicone pan and everytime I look at it has grown and puffed up even more! It doesn’t seem to be getting hard either?? It has now been setting for about 5-6 hours.
Denise says
Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get these out of the muffin tins. I did get one out before they dried because I was cleaning bathrooms today and couldn’t wait to try it! It is so refreshing! I don’t let the toilet get visibly dirty (ex: a ring or anything), so I don’t know if it gets tough stains, but I really like it and can’t wait to give my daughters some! Thank you for sharing!
